Dear Island Trees School Community,
Please see the messages, as well as the calendar of events & activities below:
Finals & Regents Exams Are Approaching – How to Prepare for Success!
With finals and Regents exams approaching, now is the time for students to begin preparing in an organized manner. Waiting until the night before an exam to study often leads to unnecessary stress and limited retention. Instead, students should review notes, class materials, and past assignments a little each day in the weeks leading up to their exams. Building strong study habits over time is one of the best ways to improve confidence and performance.
Creating a productive study environment is equally important. Students do not need a perfect workspace, but they do need a quiet area where they can focus without distractions. Whether it’s the kitchen table, dining room, library, or another comfortable space, having a consistent study location can help students stay on task and develop a routine.
Students should also make sure they understand exactly what material will be covered on each exam. Teachers often provide review packets, study guides, practice questions, or classroom review sessions to help students prepare effectively. These resources are designed to focus students on the most important concepts and skills. If your child is unsure about what to study or has not received clear expectations, please encourage them to speak with their teacher as soon as possible.
In addition, we are offering review sessions for all Regents and final exam subjects. These sessions provide students with extra support, opportunities to ask questions, review important concepts, and strengthen test-taking skills before exam day. Teachers are making themselves available to help students succeed, and we strongly encourage all students to take advantage of these valuable review opportunities and extra-help sessions.
As always, the “3 S’s” remain important during exam preparation: Study, Study, Study. Consistent effort over time is the key to success and helps move learning from short-term memory into long-term understanding.
If you have any questions about finals, Regents exams, review sessions, or study strategies, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
